Animefest 2024 was 19th year and was held at the Brno Exhibition Ground (halls Rotunda, A1, A2 and E). We have expanded experimental parts from previous year and so Fashion Corner, Dance stage and Board game zone (especially for kid games) got much more space. There was huge interest in Artist Alley, from 200 applications, 80 independent artists were selected to participate. As usual, Lancraft gaming zone provided computer games and VR experience. We welcomed many guests this year, among the most important were choreographer and samurai artist Tetsuro Shimaguchi, cosplayer Taryn or stained glass artist Kei LaVonne.
As each year, several contests were held - international AMV contest, two cosplay contests, and FestDance contest. For first time, Cosplay contest was qualifier for World Cosplay Summit (Czech representatives are Tanakht+Maki), and again for the Extreme Cosplay Gathering (selected representatives are Kate+Tery) and Tournament of Champions contest (Chibi Juns will represent Czechia). FestDance contest is qualifier for European K-POP Dance Fight Fest (Czechia will be represented by Lyra Dance Group).
Animefest 2024 was organized under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Czech Republic, governor of South Moravian Region Mgr. Jan Grolich and the Mayor of Brno JUDr. Markéta Vaňková. Animefest was financially supported by the city of Brno and Japan Foundation. Our main partners are Comfor, Smsticket and Expo Brno. We also want to thank many more partners who supported us.
