Animefest 2023 was 18th year and was held in bigger venue (halls Rotunda, A1, A2 and E) at the Brno Exhibition Ground. We have expanded Artist Alley (with over 100 independent artists presenting their creations), Fashion Corner and Cosplay village. We also expanded kid's corner and programming for kids. Board games also got a bigger hall, presenting both modern and traditional games, with dedicated space for Pokémon event Pokétour. As usual, Lancraft gaming zone provided computer games and VR experience. We welcomed many guests this year, among the most important were choreographer and samurai artist Tetsuro Shimaguchi, singer Mika Kobayashi, or cosplayer Yaya Han.
As each year, several contests were held - international AMV contest, two cosplay contests, and FestDance contest. Cosplay contest was qualifier for the European Cosplay Gathering (selected representatives are Cosplay Hadr in solo category and Ridira+Yuffie in group category) and new Tournament of Champions contest (Prue will represent Czechia). European Cosplay Gathering is supported by ABYstyle.
Animefest 2023 was organized under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Czech Republic and the Mayor of Brno JUDr. Markéta Vaňková. Animefest was financially supported by the city of Brno and Japan Foundation. Our main partners are Comfor and iGet. We also want to thank many more partners who supported us.
